Pingin Apps · last updated 24 October 2026
This covers I Know IRL, the daily Irish quiz. It is made by Pingin Apps, a one-person studio in Ireland. You do not need an account, and we never ask for your name, email address or location.
What stays on your phone
- Your results, streak, freeze tokens and stats.
- Your county, your reminder setting and the time it goes off.
- The day your free trial started, and whether you have unlocked the game.
Deleting the app deletes all of this.
What leaves your phone, and why
- County battles (Google Firebase). When you have picked a county, each day's answers go to our server so it can score them and add them to your county's totals. The app signs in anonymously: the server sees a random ID, your county, the day and your answers, never who you are. It also notes which county that ID played for each month, so the winning counties' players get their freeze tokens.
- Usage counts (Firebase Analytics). Events such as "puzzle finished" with the round type and score, and whether the trial or the unlock was taken, so we can see what people enjoy. Analytics uses a random ID for this copy of the app and works out your rough location, such as the country, from your internet address. No advertising ID is collected and nothing is used for ads.
- Crash reports (Firebase Crashlytics). If the app crashes, a report with the error, your phone model and system version.
- Purchases (Apple and Google). The game is free for 14 days, then a one-off unlock. On iPhone the free trial is a free item from the App Store. The App Store or Google Play handles payment and keeps the record that lets you restore the unlock; the app remembers it on your phone. We never see your card details.
There are no ads in I Know IRL.
Reminders are scheduled on your phone; no server sends them.
Your choices
- Skip the county picker and nothing about your games is sent for the county tables.
- Ask us to delete what the server holds (county scores and analytics): email us with the approximate date you played.
How long it is kept
County totals are kept so daily and monthly tables can be shown. Analytics data is kept for the shortest period Google allows. Crash reports are kept for 90 days.
Children
I Know IRL is a general-audience quiz and is not aimed at children under 13.
